I’ve been down in the dumps for the past couple of weeks, and for someone who’s a glass half full kinda gal, it affected my whole attitude.
Work was the primary factor behind my depression, so I’ve made the conscious decision to just keep my head down and crack on 9-5, and then really make the most out of the rest of life.
I went to Zumba last week after having to miss last week for a works dinner, and my love of the exercise class only continues to grow. I’m somewhat of a teacher’s pet and even got to lead a couple of the routines last night! My favourite routine is to Jason Derulo “Want To Want Me” and I will blow my own trumpet and tell you I’m ace at it!
Here’s a post-Zumba smug face…
After my 10k in Salford on Sunday I’ve kept the exercise momentum up with a 5km run along the canal, a quick gym lifting session and a 4.5km treadmill run during the week.
I even took this selfie in the gym and think my arms are looking OK and my face is looking slimmer…
Have a great weekend everyone!
So I guess I won’t be killing anyone today:-)
Oh lord I just had a great run on the treadmill! I ran 4km in 22:22 and paced at 11.5kph for the last 4 mins or so! Having not run in a long while, that felt great! I won’t say it was easy, but I wasn’t mega-struggling for air or feeling the need to walk.
Here’s a pic of me pre-gym and also a close up on my shoes (Asics Gel-Nimbus 16) which are really comfy and supportive.
I’ve also been sticking to my squat challenge, doing 50 squats yesterday and 70 (that’s right, 70!) squats this morning. I mix up the style and sometimes use a 4kg kettlebell to add weight.
Don’t you just love it when exercise feels so good? It makes me wonder why I didn’t really do much for the past 2 months!
Even though I can only work out for 20 minutes on my lunch hour, I make every minute count! And I can already feel it in my arms after an epic arm day! Even as a type this I can feel my biceps aching, in a good way;-)
After my epiphany yesterday I have woken up to the world with new eyes (or a stronger pair of contact lenses) and feel really fresh and ready to rock ‘n’ roll!
I hit the gym yesterday then made a gorgeous tuna salad for me and the hubby including fresh new potatoes, smoked Austrian cheese, green leaves and cucumber, delish!
I feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders (and hopefully soon from my tummy) and now feel like I can make healthy food decisions without having to stick to lettuce and nuts 24×7! Why shouldn’t I still enjoy food whilst also making balanced choices?
And that is where the gym comes in too – I have been in a gym slump but this week I have turned the corner. I decorated my spare room (which although not technically ‘exercising’ was still hard work) and then yesterday I hit the treadmill, bike and mats for some intense stomach crunches! I need to balance going to the gym with having a life and still catching up on my favourite TV shows.
If only there were more hours in the day?
Much love and positivity being sent to you!
Last night I went to the gym. This is the first time I have been to the gym in almost 2 months. I know I have been running a bit since then but I have not stepped foot on a treadmill, a bike or a weight machine since then.
So you can imaging my trepidation as a I pushed open the door to my new and unfamiliar gym, full of buff bodies and fitties not fatties, and plonked myself down on the bike, ready to feel the burn.
And do you know what? It wasn’t so bad. I was expecting to want to run for the hills after 5 minutes but after 10km on the bike I was then able to run on the treadmill for 20 minutes! I was happily shocked and celebrated with a spicy chicken salad (see I told you I really was going no carbs for tea last night!) and then a pear Bulmers cider. Oh wait…that wasn’t the best choice when following a healthy plan:-/
It’s weigh-in night tonight and I don’t expect to see much change – unless it goes up:-( But at least I know that I can get back in the gym and workout with the best of them to get this flab off!
