Friday Round-Up – Taking Responsibility

Throughout life, it’s much harder to buy into and then work towards a goal if they have been set by someone else, or just don’t resonate with you.

Having a health goal in mind whether that’s to improve your diet, lose weight or get fitter has to be a decision that you’ve made, after all, you’re the one who has eaten rubbish and not exercised up until this point., so you have to be the one to put in the hours training or making smarter food choices.

Once you take responsibility, it gives you such freedom and peace of mind. Eaten a piece of delicious cake? Don’t punish yourself! Decide that you want the cake, take responsibility for that decision, and then enjoy it! Don’t feel guilty about having the cake and then binge or restrict. Continue on your healthy eating journey.

Missed the gym? That’s OK too. So long as you made the decision not to go, then don’t blame yourself. Maybe you wanted to enjoy your time with friends, maybe you had loads of work to do, maybe you just couldn’t be bothered. So long as you own that decision, it’s OK.

And actually, you’ll find that once you start to take responsibility for your decisions, if your health goal really is important to you, the decision you make will just help you towards that journey as you’ll consciously decide to start eating better and working out more.
